3 Ways to Give Your Dancer 'Performance Opportunities' When Concerts aren't an Option.

I know dance concerts still aren’t possible for many this year, and my heart goes out to you all.

But just because you aren’t having your normal concert or recital doesn’t have to mean your dancer doesn’t get to perform.

Here are 3 ways you can give your dancer the performance opportunity they deserve.

Ask your dancer to perform at Christmas With Your Family

If your dancer always does their usual dance around the Christmas table for family and friends, why not formalise it this year.

- Set up chairs and designate a ‘dance space’ for the performance.

- Provide a nice cheese platter.

- Ask your dancer to do up a program or tickets as a fun holiday activity.

- Pop the bubbles J

It doesn’t take much but I can guarantee your dancer will feel special and loved and it will give them a lovely opportunity to celebrate what they have achieved this year.

Video a performance of your child and send it as a ‘Virtual Christmas Card’

Lots of family members (even those who don’t say it aloud) have likely missed seeing their dancer’s performance this year.  Ask your dancer to put together a routine (or do something they know) film it and send it to family and friends instead of a Christmas card this year.

Ask your local Nursing Home to perform at a Christmas party or lunch they might be having.

Obviously, COVID rules may prohibit this one in some states but look for opportunities for your dancer that help gives back to your local community.  Nursing homes, retirement villages, or community centres in your area might already be having a socially distant event in which your dancer may be able to perform.

It’s a lovely way to support your local community and they are always such a delightful and appreciative audience.

It’s this crazy year, and we really have to venture outside the box and look at new ways and opportunities to celebrate our dancers and help keep their light ignited.

Oh, Wait….. isn’t that what we have done all year! J
